PRESS RELEASE: IRL Social Skills Celebrates Autism Acceptance Month
Portland, OR, March 2023: As Autism Acceptance Month approaches, IRL Social Skills, a leading provider of social skills coaching and mental health support, is proud to announce its commitment to supporting the autism community. Throughout April, IRL Social Skills will be offering a variety of programs and resources designed to promote autism acceptance and understanding.
According to the most recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately one in 38 children are diagnosed with autism. While autistic individuals often have unique abilities and strengths, they may also experience challenges related to social interaction and communication.
At IRL Social Skills, our mission is to help these teens and young adults — and their parents — develop the skills they need to navigate social situations with confidence and ease. Through our innovative programs and resources, we empower families to build meaningful connections and thrive in their communities.
To support autistic, neurodiverse, and socially struggling young people throughout Autism Acceptance Month, IRL Social Skills is offering special programming, including:
A FREE Conversation Skills workshop for autistic teens on April 2nd, 2023—World Autism Day
A 20% discount* on their Summer Skills Academy Courses, which run for 16 weeks, starting April 10th (Teens 11-15) and April 13th (Young Adults age 16+)
“Some still refer to it as Autism Awareness Month, but awareness doesn’t improve inclusion and move us toward a more equitable society,” said Mara McLoughlin, Founder of IRL Social Skills. “Radical acceptance is needed that both celebrates and appreciates neurodiversity. We’re here to provide autistic individuals with the resources they need to develop meaningful relationships, find safety and belonging, and ultimately experience enhanced mental and emotional wellbeing.”
